Vicars' Close, Wells
These two symmetrical rows of picturesque clergymen’s cottages form the oldest continuously inhabited medieval street in Europe. The cottages were built in the mid-fourteenth century to house the Vicars’ Choral (the men of the choir), and its members still make up most of their inhabitants today.
