The Holy Thorn, Glastonbury Abbey

Glastonbury’s famous Holy Thorn is connected with the legend of Joseph of Arimathea and the arrival of Christianity in Britain.  The Glastonbury thorn is a form of the Common Hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna ‘Biflora’, which flowers twice a year, in winter and spring.  Glastonbury Abbey’s Holy Thorn is located behind St Patrick’s Chapel.
