Naples from the slopes of Vesuvius
One of the stunning views towards Naples / Napoli from the long and winding path to the top of Vesuvius. Broom, red valerian, dandelions and other wild flowers thrive in these conditions, along with a myriad of butterflies and lizards. Mount Vesuvius has two peaks – Monte Somma which is off to the right of this picture and the more famous crater from the eruptions which occurred from 79 AD onwards. The lava-filled valley between the two peaks is known as the Valle dell ‘Inferno, on the right of this picture.
